Basic Chainmail on Base
thingiverse
I made this small swatch of chainmail as a fidget toy alternative that's really satisfying to roll around in your hand while working. It's great to have something like this on hand when you need to keep your hands busy. The European 4-in-1 pattern is used here, with rings 10mm in diameter and a cross-section of 1.6mm in diameter. This particular piece uses 36x8 rings and just fills the print bed of my photon printer. I've included the f3d file so you can remix it into a larger sheet that fits your print bed if needed. Just go ahead and try it out! The chainmail is printed on a basic raft with corner tabs to help it release from the bed easily. I also added gutters to the bottom to improve adhesion, which was a major issue at first but got sorted out quickly. The STL file has incredibly high resolution - I'm still figuring out how low-resolution prints can be made without compromising print quality on my photon printer.
