Basic Brushed 8.5mm Motor Quad

A frame I whipped up to hold the F3OSD_Brushed FC and brushed 8.5x20mm motors. I'm using a micro Flysky A8S receiver, which I place on top of the FC with a piece of acrylic gel tape. The FC is also held in place with said tape. This design is the result of months of learning to fly and discovering weak points in basic frames, which often result in an arm being broken off in the event of a crash. One thing to note is that there's no positive capture of the brushed motors in this design. This was done on purpose to ease assembly and printing, but requires something to hold the motors in place besides friction. In the event of a crash, motors can be ejected, causing wires to twist up due to prop motion and lead to broken motors. To resolve this, I used some heat shrink tubing over motor mounts and motors, shrunk down to clamp motors in. A strip of good quality electrical tape would also do the trick. I like to print quad frames with a double thick top and bottom layer, which means that a thin unit like this would be almost 100% infill, given how thin it is. That makes it quite strong but still quite light at around 10g. It's meant to allow for 65mm props. It was designed to not require any tools to remove electronics from the frame in the event of a crash, such that with just some mounting tape you can swap a frame in the field. To install components in such a way, there's a slot in motor mounts to allow you to press motors down into mounts and leave wires coming up through mount parallel to motor body. Any excess wires should be taped down to ensure they don't get caught in props. I did not bother building a battery holder for it as 1s 3.7v cells can simply be lashed under the body with a rubber band, velcro strap or if you're really stuck a piece of electrical tape.
