Basic Bird Feeder
thingiverse
I designed this in Fusion360 based on a wooden bird feeder we use regularly. I prefer feeders that are easy to fill and this one has the roof sitting in place through gravity, making it simple to lift and fill the compartment. Most of the design was printed in PETG to withstand the outdoors, but I used transparent PLA for the panels, unsure how well it will hold up. You can always purchase a thin piece of plexiglass or acrylic from the hardware store and cut it to specifications for added visibility into the remaining feed amount. Crazy glue was applied to the side piece bottoms and guide holes were drilled underneath the feed plate to screw into them from underneath. Before attaching the side plates, make sure to insert a screw into each one (the part facing inside the feed compartment) so that you won't have to try to access it with a screwdriver later. Once that's done, tie a line to one of the inside screws, through one of the holes in the roof, back down into the other roof hole, and tie the other end to the other screw in the side panel. (If this explanation makes sense.) I printed this at 85% scale with a 3mm layer height, not prioritizing quality, so I printed it at 60mm/s. You'll notice layer issues, but I think it adds character, making it resemble polywood in my opinion. It would be great to see someone print a larger version of this design.
