Base plate for Tardis
thingiverse
This is a simple base plate for the Tardis created by 23Maple (which boasts an awesome design).\r\n\r\nI scaled up this design to match its original size. If you altered the dimensions of the original, be sure to adjust them accordingly in this version.\r\n\r\nThrough the back, I crafted a channel that exits at the top middle of the base plate. This feature allows for the easy installation of wires for your light source. Using a 5630 12V LED strip, I cut off a section and utilized its adhesive to secure it to the base, or you can opt for hot glue instead. A simple 12V wall wart powers my setup, paired with a Servalite single pole white light switch from Lowes at an affordable $3.\r\n\r\nTo connect the switch, I ran the ground wire through the pass-through part of the switch and severed the +12V line, then soldered it to both ends of the switch. When you turn the dial on the switch, the Tardis light seamlessly toggles on and off.\r\n\r\nI deliberately designed the base with a slight looseness around the Tardis, making it effortless to lift off once printed. My intention was to attach the Tardis firmly to the base after both have been printed.
