8/19/15: Updated with Tool-Holder files: - Butterfly needle/syringe holder - Dino-Camera holder - Generic flat sided tool holder - Flat top tool posts - Splash screen holder --------------------------------- This project transforms old lamp parts into a functional work surface. The donor-lamp image is listed above, and it cost around 10$ on sale at a big box store. The idea was to repurpose the goose-necks to hold tools. First, remove the light fixtures and pull out the wires. Take off the stand. Only the goose-necks and metal ring remain. Second, create a small platform using scrap wood or drill a hole in your desk. You'll need a 3/8" bolt with two washers and a nut. Next, 3D print the "helpingHands.stl" file and attach the goose-neck base to the 3D printed support (or workbench). Finally, start developing custom tool holders for the ends of the goose-necks. You can create a camera holder or add wire spools, solder, alligator clamps, LED lights, magnifying glasses, fans - anything that helps. You can run USB power, air lines or vacuum lines through the hollow center of the goose-necks. The holes in the wooden platform are for additional holders or a parts tray cut-out. Have fun!
