I design an optical sensor mount that seamlessly integrates normal 5mm LEDs, utilizing Osram Opto SFH 203 visual light and near IR sensors to enable the use of common red 5mm LEDs. However, you can choose any pair of LEDs that fit within a 5mm diameter. The mounting holes are specifically designed to accommodate 2020 or 4040 aluminum extrusions, offering flexibility in construction options. During assembly, I discovered that the two parts fit together snugly for testing purposes; however, to ensure secure bonding, I applied a small amount of RTV sealant to prevent any potential separation. For wiring, I utilized two pairs of wires from a CAT5 cable and twisted them together using a hand drill to create a sturdy connection.
