Base for driftwood

I've got a driftwood piece and I need a base to let it stand. I'll use my 3D printer to create one. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator Z18 Rafts: Yes Supports: No Infill: 10% How I Designed This Design steps. I used the following tools (hardware/software) to create my base. Use a 3D scanner to scan the wood. I chose "Structure Sensor" because the wood piece is a bit large and won't fit into turntable 3D scanners like "MakerBot Digitizer". Fix the scanned model by using "meshlab". I fixed manifold edges and vertices, then filled in the holes. I saved the model as "wood_scanned.obj". Use "blender" to cut out part of the "wood_scanned.obj". We only need the lower part of the wood, so cutting it saves our rendering time. Also, we can clean up some small objects inside the wood due to scan noise. I stored it as "wood_part.stl". Use openscad to create a simple base and use boolean operator "difference" on "wood_part.stl". This gave me a base with a hole that fits the wood. Print the base using my MakerBot Z18 because it's a bit large.
