Base / clamp for a swing arm desklamp
thingiverse
The foundation of the design eventually gave way, unable to support the weight of the lamp anymore. Crafted with PETG, a material renowned for its exceptional inter-layer bonding capabilities. An ABS component, printed under identical settings (though ABS temperature parameters were adjusted accordingly), began to separate at the points where the lower clamp rod is inserted. PETG is indeed an impressive material when it prints flawlessly. I wholeheartedly endorse printing at higher temperatures with PETG due to the significant moment arm exerted by the long lamp arms on the base. It's a budget-friendly, vintage incandescent desk lamp that I would consider replacing except for The Blessed Cat's preference to sit under its warmth and rest her head. If I were to swap it out for a more modern LED lamp, I might have to vacate my residence.
