Hello, I share a mini project that I was working on in case someone finds it interesting, it turns out that I have an 18v Black & Decker drill and its nickel cadmium batteries were running low on their useful life. Since I had some Li-Ion 18650 batteries from recycled notebooks, I decided to upgrade the drill with these new batteries, but the base of the original batteries did not fit the 10 batteries that I wanted to add. To solve this problem, I designed a slightly larger base. To connect the 18650 batteries, I used a BMS in 5S 2P configuration which allows for 5 sets of 2 batteries in parallel and then connected in series. With this setup, I can get up to 20v at maximum load and 18v at medium load, with a total capacity of 4.8 Ah. Now my main goal is to build a charger specifically designed for these 18650 batteries, capable of delivering 21v. The base design for the project was created using tinkercad.
