Basaltic dyke at Bingie Bingie Point
sketchfab
Bingie Bingie Point boasts a prominent basaltic dyke prominently displayed. The dykes are often divided into two or more distinct 'arms', as clearly seen in this model. Notably, the contorted margin near the compass bears a lobate shape, indicating that the host tonalite is intruding back into the dyke at this point. This type of feature is widespread on the headland, suggesting that the host tonalite was not fully solidified when the basaltic dyke intruded. The compass lies flat, pointing due north and measuring 12 centimeters in length.
