BarYak Mule Bottle Cage/Accessory Mount
thingiverse
BarYak crafts an adapter that securely attaches to your frame or fork using zip-ties, offering four threaded M5 x 0.8 holes for mounting bottle cages and aligning with the current bikepacking trend of incorporating cargo cages like the Salsa Anything Cage. The BarYak Mule is priced at $60 per pair, but you can find a better option: visit http://www.baryak.com/new-products/baryak-mule-double-mule-with-install-kit for more information. A picture from their website illustrates this product. Here are its key hardware components: * Zip-ties up to 3/8 inches or 10 millimeters wide * M5 x 0.8 bolts There are two versions available: a machined version and a printed one. However, the machined version cannot be used with 3D printing due to thread thickness issues. To address this problem, the 3D printed version is twice as thick, allowing for locknuts (8 millimeters wide, 5 millimeters deep) to be inserted into the piece. The holes are 64 millimeters apart, meeting the standard bottle cage mounting specification. Refer to dimensions here: https://salsacycles.com/files/tech/12496_SAL_AnythingCage_HD_INST.pdf For installation instructions, check out BarYak's website as linked above. Since my frame and fork are already drilled for these bosses, I am unlikely to test this product. However, feedback is necessary to identify and resolve any potential problems that may arise. I anticipate that the fit of the locknuts could be a problem (scaled width/height by 115% as a starting point).
