Metal detectorist Uncovers Treasure Trove from Bronze Age Near Morecambe Bay, Unearths Riches with DigVentures Team as Part of 'Barrowed Time' Project Funded by HLF. A rare and impressive collection of artifacts from the Bronze Age has been unearthed near Morecambe Bay, thanks to a keen-eyed metal detectorist. The team at DigVentures, working under the auspices of the HLF-funded 'Barrowed Time' project, carefully excavated the site and brought the treasures to light. In contrast to most other Bronze Age hoards, which typically consist of one or two types of objects, this discovery boasts a diverse array of items. Among them are sleek spearheads, sturdy axes, intricately crafted pennanular wrist rings, complete arm rings, a versatile chisel, and an exquisite pair of horse harness ornaments. The astonishing condition of the artifacts is truly remarkable, with many showing signs of being almost brand new, including parts of their original hafts. The sheer variety and rarity of these findings make this discovery truly exceptional. For the first time ever, a 3D digital model of a Bronze Age hoard in its original context has been made available to the public.
