This precision tool is indispensable, serving as a verification check to see if the bed bars are parallel... evenly spaced 170mm apart, just like Prusa specifications call for. Installing IGUS resin bearings often reveals poor lubrication due in part to improper tightening of port-bearing screws and also because the bars aren't perfectly parallel to one another. In this situation, the carriage moves but experiences strong friction on the bearings. Placing the tool between the front and rear bars without forcing it will immediately show whether it fits or wobbles... simultaneously giving us a chance to center the belt inside its designated space. By doing so, we'll not only achieve excellent smoothness but also reduce wear-and-tear consumption of both bearings and belts.
