The revolutionary Barr and Stroud motor makes a bold entry onto the scene, proudly touting its credentials as the world's first ever air-cooled, single sleeve valve motor worthy of serious attention. Born from the innovative Burt and McCallum patents that underpin the design, these very same engines have long been hailed for their exceptional performance in iconic vehicles such as the Argyll car and now proudly take centre stage on the high-performance Piccard Pictet. Sporting an impressive bore of 70 mm coupled with a powerful stroke of 75 mm (290 c.c.), this formidable power source has earned its rightful rating as a mighty 2½ horsepower engine. Crafted from durable aluminium, its cylinder boasts an expertly crafted finish that maximises radiation for added efficiency. Near the very top, an elegantly cast annular induction space takes pride of place, home to four specially designed inlet ports that effortlessly funnel explosive mixtures through a precision-set inlet pipe carefully angled at 45 degrees to guarantee evenly distributed airflow between each pair of meticulously positioned ports.
