Barningham Moor 98 (March 2008)
sketchfab
This stone sits north of a cairn positioned on a knoll at Rowley Intake on Barningham Moor. It clearly formed part of that cairn. Mentioned as 'R.I' in Beckensall & Laurie's 1998 publication "Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale", this carving was added to ERA by NADRAP as 'Barningham Moor 98' in 2008. The NADRAP team documented: "The motifs include a possible cup with a suggestion of a ring. Two other indentations, possibly starts of cups, can be seen on the stone, one towards the north end and the other within the possible ring." The ring cannot be made out on this model, but pecking is visible in all three cups. ERA record: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=901 Historic England listing: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1017422 This model was created from four images captured by the NADRAP Team 5 in March 2008. The imagery forms part of the ERA / NADRAP archive.
