Barningham Moor 80 (Oct 2006)
sketchfab
Carved stone situated to the west of How Tallon ridge, on Barningham Moor, County Durham. This is another stone placed within a dense cluster of carvings located to the west of the likely Romano-British settlement. Identified as 61a in the 1998 publication 'Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale', it was added to ERA by NADRAP as 'Barningham Moor 80' in 2008. The NADRAP team documented that this stone appears to have two possible cups, with the central and largest cup being deep, irregular and featuring sharp edges. Determining whether the cups are natural or artificially created is challenging. Does one of the cups display a faint ring-like marking? The images form part of the full NADRAP archive deposited with Historic England.
