Barningham Moor 8 (Nov 2006)
sketchfab
Small boulder unearthed on Barningham Moor's Scale Knoll Allotment area, County Durham. This ground-level stone, encrusted with lichen, is a protected monument and listed as reference 9a in Beckensall & Laurie’s 1998 publication, ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale’. It was added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008 under the designation 'Barningham Moor 8' and is cataloged as a stone featuring a solitary cup on the scheduling. However, NADRAP describes four possible cups, two of which are connected. This model clearly displays more than one depression on the stone, but whether these depressions are man-made remains uncertain. ERA record: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=807 Historic England scheduling: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1017429 The model was created from a single stereo pair captured by NADRAP Team 5 in November 2006. The imagery forms part of the ERA / NADRAP archive.
