Set within the eastern settlement site below How Tallon ridge on Barningham Moor, County Durham, a stone stands out. This stone is situated within enclosure walling that likely dates back to a Romano-British settlement. Its position is strategic, positioned at a corner where the motifs face outward toward what may have been the primary route through the settlement. According to Beckensall & Laurie's 1998 publication 'Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale', this carving was added to ERA by NADRAP as 'Barningham Moor 62' in 2008. The motifs consist of multiple cups with short interconnecting grooves. The design appears more intricate than drawn by Stan Beckensall or NADRAP. To learn more, visit the ERA record at https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=864 or Historic England's area scheduling at https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1017441. The model was created from two stereo pairs captured by NADRAP Team 5 in September 2006, forming part of the ERA / NADRAP archive.
