Barningham Moor 53 (March 2008)
sketchfab
Possible carving discovered on Barningham Moor, County Durham's Wash Beck area. This small wedge-shaped stone was initially spotted during NADRAP surveys on Barningham Moor and added to ERA as 'Barningham Moor 53' in 2008. The team is still unsure about it. They describe the entire surface of the stone as pitted with short fissures. In the center of its east-facing slope, a single oval cup measuring 0.08 x 0.06m can be seen. However, the presence of small indentations similar to peck marks in the cup makes its artificial look questionable. The team is also uncertain whether an arc-shaped feature to the north of the cup was formed naturally or artificially. The ERA record can be found here: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=852 This model was created from a single stereo pair captured by NADRAP Team 5 in March 2008. The imagery forms part of the ERA/NADRAP archive.
