sketchfab

Ground level boulder discovered in Scale Knoll Allotment area, Barningham Moor, County Durham. This panel showcases several natural solution holes and a distinctive cup-like depression. One of four possible carvings found within a stretch of prehistoric rubble walling, it's easy to overlook this as purely natural, yet the carvers on Barningham seem to have had a tradition of incorporating solution holes into their designs. Added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008 under 'Barningham Moor 5'. ERA record: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=804. Historic England scheduling: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1017430. Model created from four stereo pairs captured by Jeff Lynn of NADRAP Team 5 in August 2005. The imagery forms part of the full NADRAP archive deposited with Historic England.
