The stone, discovered within a dense cluster of other carved rocks, lies north of Eel Hill on Barningham Moor, County Durham. This low rock has not been documented in Beckensall & Laurie's 1998 publication 'Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale.' However, it was referenced by NADRAP on ERA in 2008 as 'Barningham Moor 44' and also mentioned by Paul & Barbara Brown in their book 'Prehistoric Rock Art in the Northern Dales.' The NADRAP team describes this stone: "Five possible cups protrude from beneath turf. All the cups are broad, badly eroded, and might not be man-made." You can access more information on ERA at https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=843 or view Historic England's area scheduling online at https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1017439. This model was created from seven images captured by the NADRAP Team 5 in March 2007, which are part of the ERA/NADRAP archive.
