Barningham Moor 40 (March 2007)
sketchfab
Small angular stone discovered on Barningham Moor, County Durham, nestled among a dense cluster of others north of Eel Hill. Cited in Beckensall & Laurie's 1998 publication 'Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale', this carving was listed as 'Barningham Moor 40' by NADRAP on ERA in 2008. Most depressions found on the stone are naturally formed, but two small cups joined by a curved groove stand out near the western edge. Visible peck marks remain within the motifs. ERA record: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=839. Historic England area scheduling: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1017439. A 3D model was created from five images captured by the NADRAP Team 5 in March 2007, part of the ERA/NADRAP archive.
