Barningham Moor 26 (March 2007)
sketchfab
Carving discovered on Barningham Moor, County Durham, within the Black Hill Gate area. Located during a NADRAP survey as team sought to identify an unmentioned carving featured on maps in the 1998 publication 'Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale'. Added to ERA by NADRAP as "Barningham Moor 26", but unclear whether reference is this stone or "Barningham Moor 30" located a few meters northwest. Team describes this carving as: An irregularly shaped boulder standing on the surface, with motifs consisting of one possible cup towards the western edge and two bowls/depressions on the southwest corner. Several fissures run east to west. Although the westerly depression is cup-like, it's slightly irregular and may have been caused by weathering. ERA record available at https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=825. Model created from 5 directional images captured by NADRAP Team 5 in March 2007, forming part of the ERA / NADRAP archive.
