Barningham Moor 116 (Aug 2006)
sketchfab
Carving found east of Washbeck Green on Barningham Moor, County Durham. A wedge-shaped stone is located within a prehistoric kidney-shaped enclosure. Discovered during NADRAP surveys in 2006, this rock was recorded as 'Barningham Moor 116' and added to ERA in 2008. The team made the following records: "The motifs consist of two cups on the lower western side, with a larger cup on the eastern high point. Just below this, are two cups joined by a short groove, with the lower of the two possibly having a ring or partial ring. In the center of the stone, a groove runs east-west from top to bottom, which has almost eroded away." This model suggests it may be more complex with the central groove cutting a possible faint ring. The imagery forms part of the full NADRAP archive.
