Barningham Moor 108 (Apr 2007)
sketchfab
Stone discovered within a dense cluster of carvings on Barningham Moor, County Durham, to the north of Eel Hill. Noted in Beckensall & Laurie's 1998 publication "Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale," this carving was added by NADRAP as 'Barningham Moor 108' in ERA records in 2008. The team documented: A small stone possibly quarried or smoothed on the east and north sides. Features include two possible cups near the center and two smaller, irregular depressions on the northwest and east sides. All characteristics could be due to natural erosion, but this is hard to confirm. The central pair shows typical cup mark traits. ERA record: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=911 Historic England area scheduling: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1017441 Model created from a single stereo pair captured by NADRAP Team 5 in April 2007. The imagery forms part of the ERA/NADRAP archive.
