Barningham Moor 106 (Oct 2007)
sketchfab
A small stone was discovered to the north of Eel Hill, located on Barningham Moor in County Durham. Mentioned as number 32 in Beckensall and Laurie's 1998 publication "Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale, and Wensleydale," this carving was added to ERA by NADRAP as "Barningham Moor 106" in 2008. The team documented: "Four cups were initially identified in a cluster at the northern edge, with a single cup situated towards the south. A later field trip conducted in poor lighting conditions only confirmed two possible cups. All features are shallow and bear resemblance to others in the area. Determining whether they are eroded cups marks or entirely natural is challenging." Only two cups appear probable on this model. ERA record: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=909 Historic England area scheduling: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1017439 This model was created from a single stereo pair captured by NADRAP Team 5 in October 2007. The imagery forms part of the ERA/NADRAP archive.
