Barnim IX foundation plate with the coat of arms of the Duchy of Pomerania features a Griffin dynasty emblem. The House of Griffin, also known as the Griffin dynasty, ruled the Duchy of Pomerania from the 12th century until 1637. The name Griffins was adopted by the dynasty after the 15th century and originates from their ducal coat of arms. Stone and polychromy were used to create this piece, showcasing a Renaissance style. It was crafted in AD 1538. Unfortunately, the artist behind this work remains unknown. The foundation plate measures 214 cm tall and 129 cm wide. Today, it can be found at the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle in Szczecin, Poland. A 3D handheld optical scanner helped document its details.
