I decided to try CNC routing, so I rewrote my design to incorporate routed parts for the barndoor. I used a piece of leftover Oak floorboard as scrap material. The electronics are housed in a rebated pocket and the device folds almost flat if you remove the curved threaded rod. A battery pack containing 4 AA batteries powers it. I achieved alignment by attaching a green laser. Files include a jig to help bend the threaded rod. A Manfrotto tripod head fits perfectly on the base plate.
