Barlings Abbey and Bronze-age Round Barrows
sketchfab
About 10 miles east of Lincoln lies the remnants of a Premonstratensian abbey, founded between 1154 and 1155 by Ralph de Haya. Following the Lincolnshire Rising in 1536, the abbot and six canons were put to death for their defiance against Henry VIII's monastic dissolution. The rising was a bold protest against the king's actions. By 1537, the abbey had been officially shut down. In the 17th century, the site became home to a house and lush gardens. Nearby stands an assortment of Bronze-Age Round Barrows.
