*Wheelchair Barbie gets her own iPad Communication Aid!* My daughter uses a chair, and we asked her auntie to get her "wheelchair barbie" for Christmas. What we didn't realise was that wheelchair barbie came in hot-pants and 9" stilettos... So I bought a 3D Printer... First project was some tiny crocs, second project was this iPad mount for her. The first time I printed this (my third ever print..) I oriented the model vertically, allowing for a really nice surface finish. It was very weak though in the layers and my daughter swiftly demolished it. Second time round I printed longitudinally as per the print layout file. So far this has proven to be much stronger. I used a couple of plastic M3 nuts and bolts to hold the bracket together, there's a pocket designed in to hold the nuts so that the bracket can be mounted first and tightened up, and then the iPad arm can be attached as required. I think it would scale up nicely to real life, but it would probably add 30kg of weight to the real wheelchair.
