Barbie Dunk Tank

Barbie Dunk Tank

We had a fall festival for kids at church. Someone suggested a dunk tank/booth, but a full size one wasn't possible, so I created a Barbie Dunk Tank. I gave kids the option of 5 nerf rival foam balls for a challenge, or 3 foam golf balls for less of a challenge to try to throw at the target to dunk Barbie. The dunk tank proved to be a smashing success, and other than the red target circle, it held up to over an hour of abuse from the kids. The red target is a weak spot if printed flat because of the layer lines, but that could be tweaked or printed differently.Using a 2 gallon bucket from the "blue home improvement store," I cut off the top of the bucket to the correct height. Once I dialed in the position of the bucket on the base, I just used a bead of hot glue to keep the base under the bucket in the correct position. I intended to cut a window in the bucket and use clear plastic so Barbie could be seen underwater just like the real thing, but I ran out of time. The netting is from a mesh clothes basket which was cut, and sandwiched in-between the net poles with super glue, using the cap at the top and #4 screws at the bottom to hold it to the bucket. Other than the bucket, the net, and the Barbie, everything else was 3D printed on my QIDI X-Maker with no special settings.I have included an .stl of the complete model so it can be rotated and inspected to understand how everything fits together. You'll note that the pivot pole that goes from the base to the arms has a square opening in one end and circular hole in the other. This piece is used twice with the circle end meeting in the middle I used about a 3" piece of wire from a heavy duty coat hanger in between them as the pivot point. I have also included a model of the "Pivot Pole" double which I made so that 2 poles would print together without tipping during the print. I then broke them apart and trimmed them.Hope you have fun with this dunk tank!
