Barbell Pulley
thingiverse
I created this because I don't have a power-rack so no place to attach a regular pulley high up. I wanted to be able to do cable triceps push downs. This model slips onto the rotating collar so that the collar or the model itself will spin (doesn't matter which) and act as a pulley. This doesn't work well with heavy weights pulling away from *my* rack. Because of the leverage it wants to tip over even with heavy loading at the feet. I used standard junk PLA and it easily held 20kg/45lbs. For safety I recommend putting some load on the other end of your barbell, roughly equal to what you're loading the pulley with. **You will also need:** **Handles** → Can be had from cheap amazon resistance band kits. **550 Paracord** → Even the cheapest stuff will work for the loads you can put on this. Get at walmart (or your local equivalent), amazon, or most outdoors stores. **Snap rings** → Hardware store. **Fitting the paracord:** 1. Once the model is printed, set the barbell on your rack at the appropriate height. 2. Tie one end of the paracord in a *double overhand loop knot*, pull tight, and hook one snap hook through. 3.Pass the snap hook and cord through the largest diameter weight or bundle of weights you'll be lifting on the pulley and hook the snap hook on to the free end of the paracord to form a cinch as shown in the photos. Do this with the largest diameter weight because it will need to be pulled the farthest for clearance form the floor. 4. Pull the paracord so that the weight lifts just off of the floor, and mark a position on the free end of the paracord, about an inch from the pulley. 5. Tie a *double overhand knot* at the position of the mark. 6. Put snap hook through newly formed loop and hook on to handle. 7. Test in position you intend to perform exercise. 8. If range of motion is suitable, cut free end of paracord and melt with lighter. This should allow you to use any of your weights on the pulley, standing, or as I do, kneeling. Adjust the position of the loop marked in *Step 4* as your find necessary to your specific setup.
