If you download and print this design, consider giving me a tip. I'm a college student, and 3D printing and design work helps support myself. Every little bit makes a huge difference. Use these brackets to hold your barbecue skewer bridge together temporarily while the glue dries. Save time, save yourself a lot of headache. The skewers snap into the brackets, allowing you to build your bridge quickly without worrying about things moving while the glue sets. The lengths of the sticks I used are as follows: 110 mm, 199 mm, and 223 mm. The number of sticks needed will depend on how long you want your bridge to be. Keep in mind that you can scale down or up by multiplying each length by a multiplier (e.g., 1.5, 3, 0.8). Remember similar triangles from geometry? That's what's happening here. You can also lengthen or shorten the bridge using more or less segments in the truss. I used ten segments for a length of 1100 mm. You should probably add diagonal supports between the two sides of the truss, both on top and bottom and in the middle, to make the bridge fully rigid. My bridge held 11.4 kg suspended from the center strut before failing. Bragging rights go to anyone who can beat that, so be sure to leave a comment if you do and show off your stuff (all puns intended).
