Baratza Vario parametric portaholder
thingiverse
I wish I had access to high-quality 3D printing materials, specifically coffee grinds filament for this project. The Baratza Vario is a top-notch coffee grinder, but its portaholder design leaves much to be desired: it creates chaos everywhere, can't securely hold the portafilter alone and is prone to breaking easily. I designed this innovative portaholder with a precision funnel that fits my 58mm Breville portafilter perfectly. However, I created the design using OpenSCAD's parametric features, which allows for customization and a snug fit for various other portafilters. Key benefits of this custom-made portaholder include: The portafilter sits securely in place, preventing coffee grinds from scattering all over the kitchen. You can effortlessly leave the portafilter within the holder using just one hand. By sliding out the portafilter, you'll achieve a smooth and even coffee distribution. This design snaps tightly into the Baratza Vario's notches. When deciding whether to add a tray at the bottom or not, I weighed the pros and cons. While it would help contain any spills, I ultimately chose to minimize plastic usage and printing time by omitting it.
