Bar Grating, Serrated or Smooth, Equation Driven Sizing
grabcad
In SolidWorks 2017, "universal size" bar grating models are created using various techniques such as .sldprt files with sketch patterns, linear patterns, and .sldasm files with virtual parts. The .sldasm files are smaller than .sldprt, allowing for faster model updates. These .sldasm files are equation-driven, with global variables adjustable in the SolidWorks Equation Manager to set size. They center cross rods on the bar length and select the number of rods and bars fitting within the nominal length and width entered. The .sldprt files require sketch adjustments but can model various grating sizes, including metric options. This includes bars ranging from 3/4"x1/8" to 6" x 3/8", with spacing options from 7P4, 7P2 to 38W4, 38W2. Non-parametric .x_t, .step, and .igs files offer 1"x3/16" 19W4 sizes and 3'x24' models.
