bar clock
thingiverse
I designed this bar clock for a friend who needed something truly special. The text insert, white keys, and clock ring are all printed in crisp white PETG, while the rest of the design is made with sleek black PETG. The outer ring is actually the clock itself, featuring 12 distinct cells that come alive with every passing moment. Hours are solid and strong, while minutes fade in and out with a mesmerizing effect. I chose to use neopixels, a teensy LC, a chronodot, an adafruit bluefruitLE friend, a dc/dc converter, and some expertly crafted arduino code to bring the innards of this clock to life. The bottom has clever openings for the DC power jack and a USB port, making it easy to program and customize as needed. Feel free to take this design and make it your own - I encourage you to experiment and push the boundaries of what's possible. If you're interested in seeing the arduino code that powers this incredible clock, just let me know and I'll be happy to share it with you. Here are the print settings I used: Printer Brand: Robo 3D Printer Model: R1 ABS + PLA Model Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Infill: 30% Notes: I relied on the support generation in Simplify 3d to get the perfect results. Post-Printing I'm really proud of how this design turned out, and I think you will be too. The outer white ring is indeed the clock, featuring 12 distinct cells that light up with every passing moment. Hours are solid and strong, while minutes fade in and out with a beautiful effect. The innards are packed with neopixels, a teensy LC, a chronodot, an adafruit bluefruitLE friend, a dc/dc converter, and some expertly crafted arduino code that brings everything to life. As it stands, the colors cycle and change with every passing moment, and when holidays approach, they all shift to relevant colors - just think of how cool it would be for Halloween! The outer ring even flashes bright white at random times, like lightning. If you're interested in seeing the arduino code that powers this amazing clock, just let me know and I'll share it with you.
