Bar Clamp - Twist-On
thingiverse
A cracked Prusa Mendel Y-Axis Smooth Bar Clamp led to upgrading the printer's Y-axis PLA bushings to LM8UUs, prompting the need for a new bar clamp solution. The retrofitted bar clamp is designed for easy installation without disassembling the Y-axis, features a developed surface and wider clamp arms base to prevent overtightening, and includes an anti-twist tooth and socket feature that positively locks together the clamping arms during installation. This clamp is compatible with 8mm threaded and smooth rods (Prusa Mendel, etc.). Two additional versions of this bar clamp are in development to provide extra separation between threaded and smooth rods: 9-1-X offers approx 1mm extra space, while 9-2-X provides approximately 2mm. The current version is fully functional, while the remaining versions will be finalized and uploaded as time permits. Created with MoI3D, more images can be found at the provided link. Note that fitting Bar Clamp - Twist On v9.0.X may reduce the distance between smooth and threaded rods compared to the standard Prusa Mendle Bar Clamp. Test printed/fitted in PLA, ABS should also be suitable. A unit piece has been tested to failure and is capable of replacing an original Prusa Mendel Y-Axis bar clamp.
