Baofeng Ham Radio Holder
thingiverse
I used to have a mobile unit, but someone broke into my SUV and stole everything they could get their hands on. I designed this mount so I can use my portable device and remove it when I'm not in the vehicle. It has a flat bottom and beveled screw holes, making mounting easy on millions of surfaces. I made another one with my call sign on it for my Suburban, and this prototype unit is now in my Audi. If you look closely at the picture, you'll notice that I'm not using screws - this was my prototype, so it's just held together with regular 3M tape. It also has a rounded bottom, but I realized that was unnecessary, so I remade it flat. I added my call sign and 100% fill for extra strength, even though it didn't need it. As you can see in the picture, the shifter clears easily because it needs to lift out before going into gear. This mount is perfect for Chevrolet/GMC Suburban/Tahoe/Silverados from 1999 and down. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 100% Notes: I made the prototype with 30% fill, but it was strong enough that I set it to 100% for my final version. I chose 0.2 resolution because it's faster and creates a groove feel that helps the Baofeng clip grip onto the unit. This keeps it from bouncing out if you're doing some serious off-roading. Rafts are recommended because this mount is taller than it is wide, but I didn't use any when I built my prototype. Supports aren't needed either, but I like perfect screw holes, so I use them. Again, I skipped them on my prototype.
