Section of Bank Top calcining kilns, operational from 1860 to 1911, remains intact today, used to calcine ironstone from Rosedale West Mines before transporting it 11 miles across the North York Moors on Rosedale Railway, down Ingleby Incline and out into global markets. Today, the kilns are being preserved through the Land of Iron project in 2019. This back wall stands as a significant landmark, offering insight into the original size of the kilns and revealing crucial details about their operation, including the flue.
