This is a custom-made band saw table insert with a diameter of 2 3/4 inches for use in our school's woodshop, specifically designed for one of our industrial band saws. The original design featured multiple holes to facilitate sawdust removal but proved unnecessary and weakened the inserts overall. Fortunately, we've discovered a cost-effective alternative that eliminates these drawbacks. The replacement parts from the manufacturer come with a hefty price tag: $25 each plus shipping and tax, making them an unaffordable option for our school's needs. In contrast, we can produce these inserts using 100% infill ABS plastic for approximately $0.30 each, offering significant savings without compromising quality. The insert measures 0.15625 inches in thickness, ensuring a sturdy and reliable fit on the band saw table. The two pins, with diameters of 0.117188 inches, are expertly extruded to a length of 0.0625 inches, providing a secure hold that withstands heavy use. A thoughtful touch is the precision-cut slot running down the center of the insert, carefully measured to accommodate the needs of our woodshop's demanding projects. The shop teacher's keen eye for detail ensured that this critical feature meets the requirements of our industrial band saw, guaranteeing seamless performance and extended lifespan.
