DescriptionAn organizer designed for my wife for bands, ribbons and all similar long-and-bendable materials used in sewing. It can also hold cables or other stuff, the possibilities are limited only by your imagination. The box has slots for holding insert cards. Based on a size of your material, you can put multiple cards in one box and stack them in variable positions. The diamond shapes on front and back sides are there not only for design, but also to mitigate warping of thin walls when printing. The side walls are held in shape with the slot ribs.Parametric designThe model was designed in Fusion 360 with parametric changes in mind. The default size (based on my wifes drawer) is 175mm length, 120mm width and 120mm height. If you need other size, you can download the STEP or F3D file and change the parameters. The slot count and card size will recalculate itself based on the changed parameters. Also the spacing of slots is based on card thickness and tolerance set in parameters.Or if you aren't familiar with Fusion 360, feel free to ask me in message and I'll upload a new size based on your dimensions.ParametersParameter nameDefault valueNotesbox_length175mmOutside length of the boxbox_width120mmOutside width of the boxbox_height70mmOutside height of the box. No need to be the total height, I have printed mine 70mm for 120mm cards to save material and print time. But if you print box higher than cards, you can then add a lid to close it.box_wall_width0,8mmWall width of the box. I used 0,8mm so it can be printed in two perimeters with extrusion width 0,45mm (to compensate for any need of multiple perimeters in corners and so on)tolerance0,5mmEmpty space between cards and slots, used also for card width, to easily slide into the box. The 0,5mm value leaves big space for easy sliding and you don't even need to hit the matching sloth on both sides, it will still hold well.slot_height65mmHeight of the slots. Must be equal or less than inner box height (box_height-box_wall_width). I designed them shorter for design and clean outher edge, also when you print the box higher than card (and card_width equal to slot_height) you can use them to hold the lid.slot_width6mmWidth of the slot ribslot_thick0,8mmThickness of the slot rib. I used 0,8mm again so the whole box can be printed in two passes of print headcard_thick1,5mmThickness of the insert card. I used 1,5mm so it is sturdy and won't bend.card_height120mmHeight of the insert card. Can be more than box_height if you don't mind the cards poking up from the box (like in the photos)card_slide_width10mmWidth of the card slide part, which slides between the slotscard_slide_height15mmHeight of the slide in reference of the main card body. Use higher values for thicker materialshole_height3mmsize of the slot holes for holding the end of ribbon while windindCard designThe card is designed for various widths of ribbons. I didn't manage to make it totaly parametric, it just keeps 5 rows of various holes.Feel free to create your own designs of the cards. And if you do, don't forget to upload it here and mark it as remix, so I know the design is used :-)PrintingI used 0,3mm height both for the box and for cards. There is no difficult shape in the model, the only issue can be bed adhesion when printing big flat parts which may want to warp up in corners.I used Prusa MINI with textured plate and PLA (my usual combination) and had no issues printing it.Print the cards laying on the bed.
