Banana Plug Cover / Insulator

Banana Plug Cover / Insulator

thingiverse

This cover fits snugly over the standard 4mm male banana plug, completely covering its metal section. The lower part of the design measures slightly more than 4mm for a secure fit, while the top portion is as wide as possible to accommodate tapered plugs and others. Test leads often get connected in various points within a circuit, requiring frequent swaps between a DMM or scope. With this cover, one can safely insulate the unplugged end of the lead still connected to the circuit on the other side, preventing short circuits and electrical shocks. The design aims to work with all styles of male banana plugs, accommodating four different varieties owned by many users. If you encounter a plug that it doesn't fit, share a picture and I'll assess how to make adjustments. This cover is printed in PLA with 15% infill and a .40 nozzle setting. The upper part of the design measures only .80 wide, intended for two precise passes that promote strong bonding with the .40 nozzle.
