Baluster Jug, Caerlaverock Castle
sketchfab
This is a stunning orange buffware jug with an exceptionally dark green lustrous glaze. Typically, baluster jugs of this sort are dated to the 1200s, but this meticulously reconstructed example, featuring a rod rather than a strap handle, likely dates back to the 1300s. Carefully unearthed from the moat of Caerlaverock Castle in Dumfries and Galloway between 1955 and 1966, it presents an intriguing glimpse into history.
