Baltimore — American Tier VIII cruiser, designed after treaty limitations were lifted and built with World War II experience in mind. Greater dimensions of the cruiser improved her survivability thanks to a reinforced armor deck and enhanced propulsion protection. In addition to main battery guns, the ship received dual-purpose artillery mounts.
