This Bronze Age funerary monument, known as a ‘Clava Cairn’, is located in a cemetery of similar monuments that are managed by Historic Environment Scotland. The cairn has a kerb of massive boulders 16.75m (55 feet) in diameter. The stones graduate irregularly in size from 0.9m by the entrance on the south-west side to 0.45m at the back. The cairn reaches a height of 3m. The cairn is surrounded by a stone platform, which has grassed over, that is 3-5.5m wide and 0.45m high. The chamber c.4m in diameter and survives 2.1m high. The cairn is surrounded by a circle of eleven standing stones (and one small earthfast stone). The stones are irregularly spaced and vary from 7m to 10m from the kerb and have an overall diameter of 33.5-35.5m. The two stones on either side of the entrance one 2.75m and 1.6m. high.
