Ballycloghduff Exhibitionist Figure WM030-020
sketchfab
A male exhibitionist figure secured into a freestanding pillar inside the boundary wall of Ballycloghduff House, situated in Ballcloghduff, Kilkenny West By., Grogan ED, as of 2017. The stone likely originated from a demolished castle to the east of the present house. In 1973, this carved figure was described as built into a gate pier of Ballycloghduff House. The stone appears to be made of limestone and was once painted over. The figure is cut in low relief, showcasing its head, arms, torso, and legs. Its head is highly detailed, featuring large oval eyes with visible eyelids and bags underneath. The nose is rectangular, and the mouth is lozenge-shaped and open, possibly damaged. Large, C-shaped ears complete the facial features. The figure's feet are bulky and turned inward toward each other. In its left hand, it holds a key, while its right hand is placed between the legs, potentially holding the genitals (SMR File 30/03/1973).
