Balloon Rocket Fins
thingiverse
My kids and I were bored one day and decided to experiment by attaching a few rocket fins to a regular latex balloon. This is what we came up with. It doesn't fly very well due to poor aerodynamics, but it does improve accuracy and distance a bit. **Update 2018-11-04** I created a new parametric version in FreeCAD that allows us to adjust several measurements. We can now tweak the wall thickness, fin size, and various diameters and lengths along the body. This makes it easier to design versions that print well in vase mode and even define a nozzle or more restrictive airway. I made some new models with different parameters and included them along with the original FreeCAD document. Like the original version, these new ones don't fly all that well either.
