Ballista Bow V1
cults3d
I'm designing a prototype for a ballista bow, which I've already brought to life using wood - check out the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63on5rLSaAE. It's purely for fun, and with metal and wood, it could be incredibly powerful, but this 3D printed version is perfect for LARPing or short-range target shooting. First, print the parts using ABS and high infill for solid components. Next, use M3 nuts and bolts to assemble both frame parts - make sure they're tight enough not to require glue, but leave room for some adjustment. Don't glue the BB_Disk_PRINTx4.stl part in place. Now, use non-stretch rope to create tension on the bow limb. Pass one end through the bowline and then around the side of the frame. To secure it, hold a metal bar against the rope and twist it until you've achieved maximum tension on the limb. Finally, add some foam where the limbs meet the frame for added comfort and stability.
