Ball Shooter Plunger adapter / fixation

I needed a custom solution for my virtual pinball project because the original part from thing #3183407 wasn't cooperating. After cutting down the entire part to size, I found out that the C/E clip wouldn't fit and there was still way too much friction preventing the plunger from moving freely. The original design didn't match the hole pattern on my Williams Bally shooter, so I had to ream out the holes a bit to get a snug fit. I'm convinced this part combination is why I need to redesign the attached part. Everything's working now, but I'm tempted to start over with an entirely new set of parts that won't interfere with soldering up the potentiometer and keep everything away from the flipper buttons. Maybe next time around, I'll take on that challenge.
