Ball Screw

A ball screw (or ballscrew) is a mechanical linear actuator that smoothly converts rotational motion to linear motion. A threaded shaft acts as a precision screw by providing a helical raceway for ball bearings. They have the ability to apply or endure large thrust loads while minimising internal friction. They are constructed to extremely tight tolerances, making them ideal for situations requiring extreme precision. The nut is the ball assembly, and the screw is the threaded shaft. Ballscrews, in contrast to traditional leadscrews, are typically substantial due to the need for a system to recirculate the balls.
